David, great reference to the Patent Office site. It seemed to me that the TMS, Inc. patent which mentioned non-minutiae only did so in passing reference to the main subject of their application, which related to storing the info on a personally carried card of the smart type. The interesting thing is that the amount of info to be stored about the fingerprint is only 24 bytes, or 24x256 , or about 6,000 different possible combinations, not even as secure as a 4-digit pin.
