Poor ElM doesn't understand how the Anglo system works. He thinks of it in terms of old time conquest. But in fact he is experiencing more precisely how it works:

We Anglos invest in Qualcomm, fibre inventions and cyberspace in general, then license those technologies or make them and sell them to Huawei which gets portuguese and english speaking people contracted to some German company to install it for some Angolan government bosses who then milk the population.

Same as when Anglos and Queen Victoria owned India. They didn't fill the country with Anglos to take over, confiscate stuff and enslave the local yokels. They merely introduced common law, a lingua franca, engineering design knowledge, commercial law, capital and the locals employed all that to get things really humming. The Anglos took a cut of the profits. The local yokels still ran the show and were in charge.

Unfortunately for the Indians, some local bosses [Ghandi* and co] got greedy and wanted to take the whole lot for themselves and introduce another great British invention, Marxian economics [although he was German, he did his 'work' in England]. Unfortunately for the Indians, that didn't work out at all well so for the next half century, hideous poverty was the norm while a few plutocrats took the loot.

Now we Anglos have got China going too. They have given up their Maoistic mantra and got with the programme. We Anglos don't even pretend to run the show. It's easier if they do it themselves. But again, China had half a century of grinding poverty and death before seeing the light. But lending money to the USA isn't too bright. Repudiation of the loans is a metaphysical certitude and there's nothing China can do about it.

Note how ElM even uses anglo for writing here and talking to get through airports and all over the place. Portuguese is useless [other than in Angola, Brazil and maybe it's still useful in the hinterlands of Portugal]

Chinese is useless too [other than that there are so many people still use it]. It's a stone age language with little pictures of mountains, rivers and particle physics to describe the world, instead of the sophisticated if hideously irrational anglophone alphabet system which hijacks whatever words are needed from whatever languages are of interest [such as 'alphabet' which doesn't actually involve alpha, beta, gamma, delta, epsilon etc these days].

Chinese lacks tenses and all sorts of sophistication which are built into anglo. Chinese are learning anglo flat out. They know that's where the cash flow is. India has a major anglo advantage though they tried to ruin that for themselves by ditching anglo classes and forcing their poor children to learn the local useless languages instead. But they gave up on that idea when the children moaned that to get good jobs, they needed to be able to communicate.

Hooray for Rudyard Kipling.

Nobless oblige,

Mqurice

* People forgot Ghandi was just another damn lawyer. He dressed in a toga in his latter years to fool people, but he was just your garden-variety lawyer with megalomaniac tendencies. By affecting his toga disguise, wearing bare feet [my preferred attire too], and posing in the right way, he was able to con the multitude and convert them from modernity to hideous poverty with him in charge.

Unfortunately, the partition became somewhat bloody [continuing to today with nuclear war still a possibility between the two halves of India]. We Anglos had kept a lid on all that carnage.

Having lawyers in charge of politics is NOT a good idea. The USA was even thinking about putting John Haircut Edwards in charge as President. Makes me queasy to think of it.

Engineers should be in charge of government. Look how well China has done with engineers running the show. That won't last long before the spivs and bludgers take over. Hu Jintao studied hydraulic engineering and Jiang Zemin was an engineer too. Hu Jintao: <He graduated with a degree in hydraulic engineering in 1965. At Tsinghua University Hu met a fellow student Liu Yongqing, now his wife. They have a son and daughter, Hu Haifeng and Hu Haiqing respectively.
In 1968, Hu volunteered for service in Gansu and worked on the construction of Liujiaxia Hydro-power Station[6] while also managing Party affairs for the local branch of the Ministry of Water Resources and Electric Power. During the 60's he was a strong follower of Buddhism, even preaching the Buddhist principle in Tibet for 3 years. From 1969 to 1974, Hu worked for Sinohydro Engineering Bureau, as an engineer.[7]
