<<<You can't conceive of a non-competitive model that would be viable long term? >>>>

Before we go around trashing systems that seem to work at least to some extent, how about finding a competitive insurance model that comes close to existing much less working?

Why can't we adopt systems that work and make it better? You know, like find best practises and so forth. Rather than try to adopt systems that have no track record.

What do competitive insurance companies in our system bring to the table?

If you tell me they spread risk, please tell me how that actually works.

Do insurance companies actually have proprietary risk assessment algorithms? Is it anything like what google offers when they have a better algorithm for better search results?

Or are they like algorithms that hedge funds use to gain a competitive edge that can easily be verified?

If they do not have algorithms that work, can be verified, and can overcome all the overhead expenses of marketing, sales, executive compensation, etc then what do they actually bring to the table?

What are they marketing?

What is their selling point?

What are people buying?
