The Black Swan On Gold, Bonds, Summers & Bernanke...
This is a rare treat, three of the most interesting, independent, and irreverent market mavens in the world, all on one video.
Here's Nassim Nicholas Taleb, Hugh Hendry, and Marc Faber.
This is from the "Russia Forum 2010" that was held in Moscow, last Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
The Black Swan really lets it fly, saying "every human being on earth should be short U.S. Treasuries."
Taleb also says the only reason Larry Summers would ever travel to Davos, is because he doesn't have a clue what's going on, and is hoping to find someone who does.
He also says that any time you see Ben Bernanke appear on television, if he still has his job at the Fed, make sure you're still real short U.S. Treasuries.
A few of Taleb's favorite trades come up at the beginning of the video around the 11 minute mark...
-- A paired ratio trade: Short the S&P/Long PM's (Gold, Silver, Palladium, Platinum) at a ratio of 1.5 to 1.
-- Make a small bet on maximum out the money LEAP puts on the S&P and US Treasuries (short both).
-- Make a small (hyperinflation) bet on maximum out of the money LEAP calls on gold & PM's.
Hugh Hendry says, "who cares about anyone's opinion."
Because it's not their opinion that makes money, it's what they do with that opinion that makes money. ie: 2 people can both be bearish on bonds. One can make a fortune, and the other can lose his shirt. It's how and when you execute those ideas that determine if you make money, and how much you make.
Hugh Hendry on China:
"Confucius say, wise man not invest in over capacity."
"China and commodities is the same trade."
So don't be long both, and you can use one to hedge the other, ie: the UltraShort FTSE/Xinhua China25 Proshares FXP to hedge your HUI gold shares:

Lot's of great stuff, Hugh Hendry with some interesting contrary opinion, and Marc Faber as always, with some very interesting thoughts on metals, currencies, and emerging markets.

If you're really into trading, plan on staying up late, or getting up early to watch this in it's entirety, and do so without any other distractions.
To be multi-tasking while watching this is pure blasphemy.
This is pure tRaDiNG cRaCK.
