>>By the way, what do you mean by "social system" ?
Would you say Texas has a good social system ?<<

Max Weber might be called the father of Modern day social theory i.e. how does one organize a modern society? One of my degrees is in that subject.

If you want to look at a state which runs according to modern day social theory look at Alaska. Texas does not know there is such a thing as modern social theory and is a barbaric state, crude and ugly, IMO.

I was part of the young "ad hoc dems" who wrote (and fought for!)the social sructure of Alaska in the 1970's. We liberal dems controlled the house for a few years in the 70's and as we knew our time would be short we concentrated on orgainizing a modern compassionate state.

One of our primary accomplishments was forcing the right wing Republicans and oil companies to put 25% of all our oil revenue into a permanent fund for our children. Boy that was a blood in the sreets fight! We now have almost 40 billion in it and live off of the revenue.

Right now, Alaska is in the best financial shape of any state in the union. Our educational system is among the best. Our social structrue is in tact i.e. we can take care of those who live "in the spring of life, the winter of life and the shadows of life". Hubert Humphrey I htink. And we do.

In the 70's we ad hoc democrats knew modern day social theory and applied it in our legislation
