Palin's rapturously received speech in Nashville could have been delivered almost line for line at a Republican National Convention. She skipped the social issues but otherwise rehearsed unalloyed conservative orthodoxy on national-security and fiscal issues.

If the GOP and the TEA Party stick to fiscal responsibility and national security and hammer these issues relentlessly, they surely will clean up in next year's election.

A lot of independents and libertarians are not social conservatives, so soft pedaling those issues would be tactically smart. Constructing a "big tent" campaign focused on smaller, more fiscally responsible government will create a tidal wave that will sweep the Obama/Reid/Pelosi cartel out of power..
