I think the article in the Ultratech thread is very important (refering to Jmar message 3788). This may help explain why Jmar is taking a very conservative outlook toward the future of its x-ray lithography. If even half of what Intel's spokesperson suggests is true, it sure seems as if they really want to control the future of american semiconductor production even more than they do now.

Among the points to be brought up by Ultratech in the article is the high cost involved in making even one of the machines for next generation chips. It was suggested that a machine could cost as much as 25 million dollars to produce. Could some one maybe clarify an older point for me. It seemed to me that Jmar at one time suggested that these machines might cost 1 to 2 million dollars. Could it be, that in fact, they meant there part of the next generation machine would cost 1 to 2 million dollars.

Thanks for catching this article. I suggest that other Jmarians read this article in Jmar post 3788.
