1 - There is no global American empire.

2 - The World Trade Center was not an imperial institution.

3 - To at least a certain extent the WTC was and the Pentagon is, a symbol of freedom.

4 - A big Evangelical church would be a less iconic target for most of the population. The Statue of Liberty, and the church, would have held less people, and thus have contained less potential victims. The White House or the Capitol may have been the target of the third plane.
