The worse that can happen to SS is that benefits are cut by 25% from their current levels. That's the number that guarantees that SS contributions are equal to SS outlays till the end of the century. As for Medicare, all we need to do is adopt one of the many single payer systems prevalent in other developed countries, which manage to provide comparable or better health care than ours at half our costs.
