I disagree about the 'pigeon' commercial. Most people will have difficulty making a correlation between somebody feeding pigeons in a park and a computer. Then, at the end of the commercial there is the emphasis on the name Micron as the brand name--I know, this is the brand name, but if you view a commercial and see this brand name used and you are familiar with technology then you would probably assume that it is Micron Technology and not Micron Electronics that the reference was being made to. Here's an example of a situation that held another stock back because the parent was seen as a loser. Borders bookstores was majority owned by KMart and then it was spun off more than a year ago. Borders received no respect and little appreciation because of the Kmart alabatross and association. Kmart truly did suck and everyone had this perception. However, Borders was doing very well in their segment and kicking their competition nicely. Finally Kmart let go of the majority if not all of their Borders shares and Borders appreciation has been a "see ya later" story ever since. I sincerely hope that Micron Technology lessens its stake to 30% or zero as this would benefit Micron Electronic shareholders and aid in price movement decoupling in the respective stocks. Just one person's take.
