Health Insurance and Nursing Home insurance are two different things. Once one is "broke" the government will pay for such.

That's sorta correct. If you are broke there are a few nursing homes that will take you but when you look at the quality of care you receive it would send chills down your spine. A large number of nursing homes don't take Medicaid patients at all. After going through 4 nursing homes for my mother we finally found an adult family home with good care.

I would love to have a "long term care policy" but I can't get one with my existing health condition. My dad got one after the lessons of what happened to my mother but it won't cover everything. My dad didn't want to bankrupt my brother and me at the end of his life.

Unfortunately this is a problem most folks are not aware of until disaster strikes and then it is too late. I highly recommend that folks get long term care insurance and especially study the fine print.
