Al, my optimism lies within the free market of ideas and the free market of individuals and organizations making a living on their own.

Collectivism is all founded upon the notion that we can't trust the free markets to do their thing, that government has to decide for everyone. Liberal "optimism" is just a euphemism for trusting the collective over the individual.


I am largely in agreement with the first statement and I would say that you are grossly misrepresenting in the second one. In health care the government would simply serve to insure citizens against harm, physical and financial, much as it does with the military...hardly fitting your extreme description that "that government has to decide for everyone".
