I attended the south florida boat show both saturday and sunday;
Satellite television, and other satellite communications products was by far, the "Hottest" product at the show.
FutureTrak putting their space scanner and flat array antenna onboard "The StarShip", had to be one of the greatest coups of all.
The exposure these guys got putting that scanner on the largest mega-yacht there, and the only one with a helicopter on it was phenomenal!
The director of media and marketing, Miss Stefanie Haden, whom I met onboard the StarShip took the time to explain the entire line of products. She then suggested that I go inside to talk to a FutureTrak sales rep, which I did. Miss Haden's email is haden@futuretrak.com
It was easy to find the FutureTrak product as they had an NFL game on, and a small crowd surrounded their booth. FutureTrak had a dealer rep directly across from an alleged competitor. That made it very easy for me to compare several other systems available on the market today.
While doing that comparison a storm rolled thru, and knocked off all the other satellite receiving systems on the row that I was standing in "EXCEPT FOR FUTURETRAKS!!
It was the best example I could have ever hoped to see of a superior product proving itself before such a wide audience, as a hush fell over the crowd!! It was a defining moment for me and many others as the FutureTrak rep beamed with confidence and pride as mother nature joined in his demonstration.
I am now verrrry long on FTRK, and fully expect this stock to begin to attract a lot of attention once the buyers of these revolutionary products realizes that the company is now publicly traded. FTRK closed 2 1/8 on 11-3-97.
The satellite communications field is one of the most exciting sectors of the marketplace, and the biggest consumer electronics product in history. The Satellite TV market which is still in an explosive stage of its growth, as evidenced by EchoStar, Direct TV, PrimeStar, and USSB, all who are still expanding their subscriber bases rapidly....
FutureTrak seems to be uniquely positioned to capture the marine market as it advances to the next level; led by FutureTrak's products themselves!
The FutureTrak space scanner comes equipped for all the exisiting DBS signals now; an industry first! I am convinced that this fact, and the continued development of their other revolutionary products like that flat antenna will change the way people use satellite communications forever.
In speaking to FTRK company president Steve Remondini, FTRK quoted over 200 people for systems, while dealers purchased product directly from the local distributor so they could fulfill retail orders from their dealers, right there at the show.
Futuretrak shared their booth with their south florida distributor, STI, while STI was supported and supplied their dealers. That stood out to me as an example of both excellent product combined with excellent channel management programs. FutureTrak clearly has a well defined plan, and the right people in place to execute that plan.
FTRK appears to me to be at the right place at the right time with superior products and the finest of people selling and supporting them; all the ingredients, IMHO, of a prime undervalued growth stock.
