I remember reporting for induction. As a volunteer for the USMC I was surprised to see a long line of draftees in their shorts as was I. A Selective Service guy walked by the line and indiscriminately pulled about one third of them out of line and told them they were going to be Marines and told them to fall in behind us. On Parris Island I was surprised how many "lucky" guys got to be "chosen" to be Marines. I asked for it, those poor bastards didn't ;^)
