It's not that easy to do what BYD have done. Copying has always been the easiest way of advancing, although it does appear that in BYD's case it's a bit more blatant than usual. My guess is that Toyota will not want to buy a fight because China is now one of their biggest markets, maybe the biggest. They'll probably treat it as a cost of doing business.

People are still saying that the Chinese can only copy, not create. I think this is a mistake.
