By the way, I'm all for a very basic "public option." It's not going to reduce costs, and it's not going to give the same level of benefits as most private plans, but at least it will ensure that people don't needlessly die because they couldn't afford to see a doctor until it became too late.

Well, that's progress, although even in agreement your position is cynical. I have worked with cynics all my life...they were consistently among the underachiever crowd.
