Well, I just sat through the Opening Ceremony. I wasn't impressed. Or maybe I still haven't gotten over the shock of the butchering of O Canada right at the beginning. Who the hell approved that? I won't get into Bryan Adams and Nelly Furtado lipsynching at such an important event. We all noticed. About the plastic "ice" sculptures. Uhmm, didn't anyone realize during practice that one of them looked like a giant penis? I didn't perk up again until k.d. lang sang. Noticed she was barefoot. Was probably looking at her feet so I didn't actually have to look at her. Nevertheless, she was superb. And she actually sang it! Then came Donald Sutherland as one of the Olympic flag bearers. He's still sexy. Shame about the inside cauldron failing to open properly. Good thing nobody fell into the hole. It was nice to see Wayne Gretzky brave the pouring rain in the back of the truck to light the outside cauldron. Ever the sportsman. Now let's hope the new buses can actually get up Cypress. Oh, and let's hope the drivers don't get lost trying to get there as they have been doing all week. Huh? Cypress is not that hard to find. Let the games begin. It's a logistical nightmare but I have hope.
