GS is just doing God's work John. n dozens of deals across the Continent, banks provided cash upfront in return for government payments in the future, with those liabilities then left off the books. Greece, for example, traded away the rights to airport fees and lottery proceeds in years to come. We are better off for letting GS survive and doing God's work? Boy to read this article and not be so freaking mad as to break the computer is hard. Is Greece anymore sophisticated than the small homeowner in going up against GS? And what people must understand is that this is the evil with Keynesian economics. This is pure keynesian - borrowing from the future to live a bloated life style of today. Bloated for GS that is - with their almost half a million dollar per employee bonuses. Hats off to the NYTimes for a great piece!
