I disagree, which is funny because that would put us in a curious reversal of positions (me supporting ACORN, you thinking ACORN shouldn't be necessary).

Government should not force anyone to vote. Apathy is not something that can be cured with taxpayer money. It really ought to be left to grassroots organizations getting people involved in the political process.

Anyway, there isn't anything wrong with having organizations like ACORN, but they really ought to clean up their own act. It's not fair to defenders like yourself (and maybe even me) to have to defend breaking the rules in order to give the disadvantaged a voice.
