We are not that far apart in what we are arguing about.

We both agree the country needs to change and cannot continue on its present course without bankrupting itself.

We both agree that something needs to be done to change the direction.

We both agree the way to change it is to produce a different behavior in the citizens.

We just disagree about the methodology to do this.

I think it has to be forced on the citizens through involuntary National Service (Universal National Service-not just military service--service in a host of non-profit civic organizations like Americorp etc.as well as the military) and have tried to detail the benfits flowing from that using my ideas and Professor Sabato's. My ideas are based on personal experience and Sabato's on his own ideas plus some research.

You think, apparently, it has to be a voluntary participation otherwise it won't/can't work (money aside that is). You suggest civic education in college and using existing institutions (for volunteer opportunities?)

Additionally, we diverge about whether UNS is possible because of the money it would take to support Universal National Service.

Is that accurate so far?
