I'm with you. I'd like to see Social Security privatized. I don't know if it is possible to do the same for Medicare, but serious thought should be given to that. Good luck getting the Dems to agree to that, though. The first thing we need to do is repeal the anti-trust exemption that the Health Care industry has. But we'd have to overcome GOP opposition to that. Second, we need to look for ways to increase competition and ratchet back the government's involvement. Everyone should be for this, but the Dems want more gov't involvement.

We'll know when we've arrived at a healthy Health Care industry when the benefits to consumers rise every year, while the costs decrease every year. That is the foremost symptom of a truly free market industry.

Also, we'll know when we've arrived at a healthy social security program when every dollar that you and I put into the system is tagged to our own social security number and can only be used for our own retirement, not to pay for someone else's.
