NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 4, 1997--American International Petroleum Corp.
(NASDAQ:AIPN), today announced the appointment of George Pavloff, Geophysicist, as Exploration Manager and Anatole Kunevich as Manager of Corporate development for Kazakstan and the other CIS countries. Both Appointees are fluent in Russian. Pavloff is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara, with a B.A. degree in Geology. He has had 23 years experience in the oil industry, both domestic and international with a specialty in CIS countries. He has worked for Phillips Petroleum for 12 years and has acted as ophysical Consultant on CIS projects for Oryx, Kerr-McGee, Western Geophysical, Bechtel and the World Bank. He is currently finishing an assignment as a consultant to a major oil company and will assume his AIPC responsibilities by Dec. 1, 1997. Kunevich is a graduate of Temple University, with an MBA degree. During the past nine years he has concentrated on projects in Kazakstan and Russia and is very knowledgeable of the culture, the people and available business
opportunities. The company also announced that due to new constraints related to his family, Dale Wooddy would not be able to relocate to Kazakstan and therefore could not continue as president of the company's wholly-owned subsidiary, American International Petroleum Kazakstan. Wooddy has agreed to provide consulting services to
the company as needed. The company also said that it has resumed negotiations with a number of industry partners regarding participation with it in the development of its concession in Kazakstan. However, there can be no assurance that any of these ongoing negotiations will materialize into a final agreement. American International Petroleum Corp. is an international exploration and production company engaged in refining in Louisiana and the development of oil and gas projects in Kazakstan.
