GeneM , last year I stopped by at Broadway consulting in downtown Manhatten to pick up the copy of their book "Electronic daytrading", and had a chance to play around with Watcher, program they use for SOES trading. Program itself is DOS based and basically is a NASDAQ level II screen with order entry. No TA available, few traders had second monitors with some kind of charting, but we were told that it was an office development which was not available for remote feed. Watcher was offered for remote trading with ziro cost, but trader had to open account of 75G. Feed was conducted via dedicated telephone line with modem (preferable Courier V.Everything), so long distance call expances about $850 a month are involved. How much they charge for trade wasn't clear or I missed that (for some reason I have two prices $20 and $28 for a trade in my mind).
Other thing, if you use Internet for both your information feed and order entry with your broker it is possible to use one telephone line with one modem. Your computers should have Ethernet cards and be connected into local network. I have this setup of two, server has WIN NT4.0 server OS, client has WIN 95 OS, and I use MS proxi server1.0 to connect network to dial-up.
Michael.
PS. Almost forgot, Watcher also has news feed.
