There's no question that many public-sector agreements - openly negotiated and agreed to - need to be realigned with new economic realities. In that respect Mish is correct.

However, we expect bloggers to at least attempt objectivity, and be knowledgeable about what they post. By frequency and vehemence Mish's attacks on union workers outweigh by far his attention to other aspects of US economic decline - or "circling the bowl" as you so eloquently put it. >g<

When viewed against the dollar amount of TRUE crimes and misdemeanors, union agreements pale in comparison - and most important, there IS a mechanism to rectify the problem: negotiation.

Things are simply out of alignment. However, there was - and is - no wrongdoing. There was no crime committed; simply put, organized labor pursued legitimate paths to economic well-being.

What they did was open to public inspection, lawful and economically rational.

That is the truth. It's NOT some heinous crime. It's not Wall Street stuff, it's not corporate malfeasance.

Now they must be negotiated back into alignment: that is also true. This hardly justifies a witch-hunt.

As bloggers become prominent, we note which ones come closest to journalistic standards of excellence, which ones offer expert analysis, and which ones sacrifice objectivity for ideological agendas.

'Nuff said.
