Jeez, I leave for another few days and look what happens. Gadzooks. Pre me, back in '94, ATI went public and in the next quarter or so had to write off around $12 M (Canadian) in dead 32 bit inventory because of some massive forecasting screw up. The market assasinated us and our stock went from 19 down to the 4s. Management was mortified and let's just say some heads rolled for that one. But, the company sucked it up and kept pushing on. It took us about three years to win back the confidence of the analysts and investment community through rigorously hitting our numbers. The core value of the company was still intact and that is probably the case with S3, as long as they can hold their key people.

The short term question is whether that Asian distributor inventory S3 has on the books is going to actually sell at its original price or be written down or off. Ouch.

So, I suppose you dudes don't want me to tell you that ATI announced yesterday that for the first time ATI sold 1 million graphics boards (not just chips) in the month of October. Hit the company web site or (http://www.techstocks.com/~wsapi/investor/s-10989/reply-248) for the actual release.

Good luck to you guys. I feel terribly for some of you I've followed for the past year and a half.
