Stock futures fall after jobs, inflation reports
Stock futures fall after jobless claims and inflation rise more than expected

AP Business Writer, On Thursday February 18, 2010, 8:39 am
NEW YORK (AP) -- Stock futures are falling after new reports showed claims for unemployment benefits rose unexpectedly last week and inflation jumped more than expected in January.

The Labor Department says newly laid off workers seeking unemployment benefits rose to 473,000. Economists had expected claims to fall to 430,000.

Inflation also rose more than expected. The Producer Price Index rose 1.4 percent. It rose 0.3 percent excluding volatile energy and food prices. Economists expected a smaller rise in prices.
