Absolutely. As a leader in my business, I simply don't always use the carrot. Imagine me having to beg my employees to be competent and do their jobs properly. I use carrots when my employees do something extraordinary. I don't use carrots when they are merely just doing their job. I use a stick when they aren't doing their jobs. Carrots for doing great things. Sticks for doing bad things. It works.

I am not talking your employees. Senators and Representatives are not employees of the party or the president. They are independent contractors.

I am asking you.....do you as a strong, independent human being respond well to beatings or threats? I know I don't. As a senator, you'd have to offer me a carrot, not a stick. Is that not true for you?

The Dems used carrots to get these Senators stop doing bad things. That's like broadcasting weakness. So those Senators smelled the weakness and abused the majority of Dems even more. Then smelling internal dissension, the GOP went on the attack and made it even worse.

Its not "to keep them from doing bad things". They offer them carrots to get them to sign onto a contract or piece of legislation. You know its what's called negotiating. I am sure you've done it....its very common in business

As I said, you can't be a leader and use nothing but carrots. If you do, you won't be a leader for long. You need to earn respect. Respect is usually a combination of love and fear.

All I can say is you must be dealing with people who function on a very low level.If you were my boss, I would be looking for another job.
