Hawk, you have it backwards. Where there is Liberty, democracy is secondary. Free people each do what they think is best. A popular consensus, established through democracy (e.g. popular vote), has no major effect when there is Liberty for each person. In our Republic, Democracy should not take away the Constitutional freedoms of any person, no matter how popular the cause.
