You are lost in your own ideological whirlpool. There is no practical way to save the dollar and stave off inflation -- there is no rabbit in the hat left to pull out. The bag of tricks is empty. Default is now inevitable -- the means of default are clear. We will print. We will inflate. And the dollar? We will watch it fall from its pedestal. The reason I say it is political is because there is only one way for current political elites to cling to power -- default in a way that obscures the default and allows most people at least for a while to believe they still have a future. Take away any hope for the future and the streets will swarm with increasingly brazen lawlessness. For Americans, inflation brings hope. Not hope with a foundation, the but hope that the superpower of debt can survive without the brutal cleansing action of market forces that would have flushed most people's net worth down the toilet if their assets had been marked to market in one big spasm of honesty.
