Top Russian general claims United States plans to attack Iran By: The Associated Press \| 17 Feb 2010 \| 04:32 AM ET MOSCOW - Russian news agencies quote the head of the military's chief of staff as claiming the United States intends to attack Iran. Gen. Nikolai Makarov is quoted as saying that the chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. Michael Mullen referred to the plans recently. The ITAR-Tass, RIA Novosti and Interfax news agencies quoted Makarov on Wednesday. Mullen visited Moscow in January, but it's not clear from Makarov's reported remarks whether the claimed Iran attack plans were made then. cnbc.com
