Sure I do. You can live your own life the way you want, just don't interfere with another man's ability to live the way he wants to live, within the boundaries of societal norms.

I think the core of the argument is that part about societal norms. You believe the norm among Americans is that hetero is moral and gay is not. However, most Americans believe that there is a portion of the population who are genetically or chemically inclined to be gay, through no fault of their own, and that they should be allowed all the same rights as the rest of us. Civil unions being one of those rights that are currently denied them. I agree with Cheney and his daughter Liz on this one.

I can fully support your desire to have your church continue to be able to deny a gay couple marriage inside that church. But why would you deny them a marriage through a secular, civil union? There's no reason for you to interfere with someone else's life that way, except if you are intolerant and overreaching...just like the Taliban.
