[Aware Lite]

<<<- Aware, Inc. (NASDAQ:AWRE), a worldwide leader in xDSL (digital subscriber line) technology, has demonstrated the first "splitterless" version of its DMT (discrete multitone) technology suitable for PC modem applications. Delivering downstream speeds of up to 1.5 Mbps over CSA loops without the need for POTS splitters at the customer premises, Aware's DSL Lite technology is an important stepping stone between the voice band modems available today and full-rate ADSL, which provides downstream data transfer of over 8 Mbps.>>>

I can just hear how it all came about. Aware managment meeting, sometime last summer:

Bender: "Okay, guys, our chip won't run at full speeds so what should we do????"

Marketing VP: "Half speeds, eh??? Hmmmm. . .we could call it DSL Half-Fast . . . or DSL Half-Wit. . . Nah. . . . How about DSL Lite?"

Bender: "Good idea. You get less but no one cares. . . "

Marketing VP: "What about the pot-splitter??? We won't need it with these speeds."

Bender: "Splitterless???? Use it!!!!"

Marketing VP: "Sure. Right. Splitterless. . . there goes my career. . ."

"DSL Lite, the splitterless choice for your bandwidth needs. . ."

Give these guys an award for marketing genius.
