Commerce Business Daily - Nov 5 - US Secret Service intends to award a sole source contract to Western Identification Network for fingerprint database services. Sole source due to the fact that WIN is the sole automated fingerprint identification and search sytem for the states of Montana, Utah, Nevada, Idaho, Wyoming, and Oregon that provides interface access to the databases of California, Washington and Alaska.... system must be fully compatible with sytems currently in place and used by US Secret Service. No price mentioned... not sure if IDX has any involvment. NEC and WIN have some sort of connection as shown at: audionet.com What this solicitation does show, however, is that the government is expecting the various systems and databases to be able to interact with one another or they will take the sole source route.
