I had no idea Apple had so completely fallen down on this. It's just not right.<<

HTML5 is just starting to be implemented. You can't expect complete support for it to just appear overnight.

And in any case, how often do you start up a video in one window, then go do something else in another? Don't you start the video because you want to watch it?
