that is not the sort of attitude which would enable learning ;0)

LOL! But neither are responses like you provided with regard to the gap between rich and poor in HK:

Sure, but imo, most, as in majority of Hong Kong are astutely well aware of the inevitable and inevitably widening gap, duely understand the implications of the underlying impetus, inately know enough to embrace the trend, and correctly wish to engage on the proper side of the equation:

People have to actually OPERATE AND MAINTAIN that Island paradise for you "sovereigns".. And if you make it too expensive for them to live there, treat them like the scum you consider them to be, and render them into indentured servitude, I dare say you're going to accumulate some well deserved resentment, and possibly some mob violence.

Ivory towers can be quite beautiful.. But they can also become your gilded prisons if you've turned the peasants and proletariat into your sworn enemies, waiting to assault your hubris at every moment.

Whenever you think you're more special than the lowliest street cleaner, take a picture of yourself sitting on the crapper...

We all share the same biological functions and we all put our pants on one leg at a time.

And we all bleed red, and none of us are getting out of this existence alive.
