Thanks MM. The story was based on personal experience, except the part about the dying, which was for the drama. <g>

Very many years ago, I had a very high unbreakable fever that made me hallucinate. None of the hospital's efforts to break it worked for about a week. One of the recurring "dreams" I had was about falling through very deep snow and having it refreeze around me so I could get relief. For some reason, I thought about that last night.
