You are repeating an untruth. All contracts have a term, at the end of which they expire. It is then time for renegotiation.

Also, by extraordinary mutual agreement the parties to the contract may be able to convene, and voluntarily alter contractual terms, prior to expiry.

Contracts are living things, constantly changing. I'm not aware of any labor contract, in any jurisdiction, anywhere in the world that is "in perpetuity" as you claim.
