The current system is an enormous fiscal time bomb, we know that for certain. And it ignores or actively screws over tens of millions of fellow citizens who deserve decent healthcare. We will adopt fiscal responsibility when the federal government hits the same wall the states have, and the cuts have to come with a meat cleaver. We obviously lack the political will and maturity to act otherwise. All the goofy old farts in Congress now are products of this system and mindset. And the goofy old farts run things there.
