Anyone projecting any big economic trend out more than a couple of years is on a fool's errand anyway, IMHO. It's all GIGO and assumptions.

I don't put any stock in the models, either.

But it seems to me that, in a democracy where the vast majority of the voters do not contribute to the general fund an amount sufficient to cover the transfers they receive from it, that making a hugely expensive benefit an entitlement would inevitably over time drain the contributing end without hope of repealing by vote the entitlement. That's a very macro and very elementary natural trend that doesn't take any detailed knowledge of health care issues to grasp. The risk is huge and irredeemable and I can't find a way to get past my concern about it.
