Well, to be fair, Steve, Sanders was elected as an Independent (as was Lieberman), whereas Paul is a registered Republican, and was elected as a Republican. So that's a difference, isn't it?

Of course it's a difference - but the whole point of offering up these examples was to demonstrate that lanes thinking that somehow democrats are a cohesive bunch of people more so than republicans is false. My point was that republicans are perhaps more closely tied together ideologically than democrats. However I also think this is a silly thing to be arguing over as it just moves away from my original point.
