The industry should never have let Sony own the only HD DVD tech.

I'm not sure it would have been any better if Toshiba had won with HD-DVD.

Microsoft was a major backer of the HD-DVD format because it used Microsoft's HDi for the interactivity content. Ugh.

I think the real problem is that a format war was allowed to develop in the first place.
