Sony has been a bear as far as licensing... as is their way. Thus the S. Jobs reaction. And others. It has really slowed adoption.

This is sad, especially because Apple was one of the backers of Blu-ray when HD-DVD was still around.

Sony greed will lead them to shoot themselves in the foot.

That could very well be. Sony has a long history of great but failed technologies, with Betamax and Minidisc being two prominent ones. However, Blu-ray seems to have better market penetration so far than any past ones, at least that I can recall. I see Blu-ray discs advertised and on sale everywhere these days, though prices still well exceed DVD.

"Can't we all just get along?" I guess not.

Rodney King was right, but it doesn't seem to work in the corporate world. Sony has too much greed for their own good.
