Actually BD discs have come way down from their lofty prices and are approaching DVD prices. I have replaced almost 1/3 of my 600 DVD library with BD. But I agree that you have to look for sale prices and I also agree that IMO BD will not hit critical mass till BD movies are priced almost the same as DVDs. In fact I don't know whay they are not already. After all, if you price them the same, the person will either have to buy a BD player and buy the BD disc or buy the DVD disc knowing that the BD is available at the same price. Either way the studio sells one copy. If truly they want people to move to BD, they should just price them the same. And BTW, on a 1080p set, the same available 1080p movie from a DVD versus BD looks like night and day. No comparison. And once you've seen and compare a few movies on BD vs. DVD, you'd never want to go back. But you do need a 1080p set IMO to see the dramatic difference.
