Ted, > Are you saying that because you were there, or because it really did seem good?
Both.
Canada isn't exactly "owning the podium" as they intended, but that seems to matter little to all the residents here. I think they now have as many gold medals as America and Germany. (America is the king of bronze, though, which is why we continue to lead the medal counts.)
Canadians are not about to change their stripes. They want to have a good time, and if they win lots of medals, all the better.....but if they don't, its not the end of the world. Its very similar to the attitude here [in the PNW] as you know.
I'll be watching ladies figure skating live tonight. My girl, Yuna Kim, is in the lead. Mao Asada of Japan is close behind, followed by Canadian Joannie Rochette. Of course, Rochette is the big story here, considering he just lost her mom a few days ago.
Yeah, I want Rochette to medal.
P.S. - Curling is SERIOUS BUSINESS here in Canada. We Americans love to ridicule that "sport," but the Canuckleheads really get into it. Almost as much as they get into hockey.
The other nite I was out with some friends and they were talking it up......don't even know what curling is.
