There may be thousands now with all the publicity and potential financial awards. But I believe the NHTSA website lists all complaints... I just checked the last six months and the only one listed is the Lexus story in all the papers.

I think NHTSA is part of the problem. Apparently, under Bush, they were bought off by Toyota.
