President Obama brushed off criticisms by Sen. John McCain in today's summit, noting that "we're not campaigning anymore. The election is over."

That struck me as mildly amusing right away, because many would argue that Obama never really stopped campaigning and never really started governing after the 2008 election. But it took an e-mail from a GOP flak to remind me that only yesterday, Obama's staff was prematurely showing off his 2012 re-election campaign to Politico's Mike Allen:


Today: “Let me just make this point, John, because we’re not campaigning anymore. The election is over.”
