How the cableTV market works, today?

Verizon has a Fios party to sign up customers for their latest promotion $89.99/mo subscription for one year then $109.99/mo for the next year. You get a $200 gift card for your troubles. And they raffled a netbook for all attendees. They will waive installation fee of some $40.

It was a nice lunch of Papa Gino pizza, chocolate cake, snacks and drinks. But the price is too high for most people.

In the mean time, RCN having an older system with more HDTV programs are promoting $69.99/mo bundle for triple play. Minus the phone is $49.99/mo. It will continue to get more realistic in monthly subscription fees, to get profitable to use up idled connection to each home.

At the same time Comcast with channel one is piggybacked on CableVision network. It has to be competitive with Verizon, here in my town.

We expect Docsis 3.0 will be for SMB. Homes will get Docsis 2.0 at a discount. A good discount without too much hassles in the future for price increase?

Its all in the marketing to fit people's budget per month. You can not squeeze blood out of rocks?
