I'm not going to respond to all of this, Karen, because you and I are only stating our disagreements with one another. I can't find enough common ground to pursue that part of the conversation. But I do need to note yet another disagreement.

We forget Econ 101 where we learn about the the inherent problems of monopolies. And Poli Sci 101 where we learn about the inherent problems of centralized systems controlled by politicians and bureaucrats.

I probably don't need to remind you that there are a rather large set of courses, views, points of view, whatever, that pass for introductory Econ or Political Science. To take only Political Science for instance, more than a few introductory sections note the role of democratic governments in controlling predatory monopolies. So stating an academic authority as the basis for your argument is simply not sufficient.

I actually prefer government regulation, as in the present regulation for foods, drugs, etc., as we've talked about on this thread, to its absence. That's what's being talked about here.
