I think you have done it. You've met WLD's specifications (with the only caveat being the 16.4" screen vs. 17", which is certainly no big deal. And that machine is half the price of the 17" MBP, so you've proved your point as far as this specific instance goes.
That Sony, as I said before, is definitely a powerhouse. I could even ignore the extra thickness. But I wouldn't buy one because I've had it with Windows. I spent years with it, both running it myself and supporting it. I still have to support it occasionally, and I can hardly stand it.
In any case, for editing video, you want to be able to run Final Cut Pro. Perhaps if someone would put in the work to write drivers for all the hardware, it might be possible to Hackintosh this thing.
