Has there ever been an older generation who didn't believe the world is going to hell in a handbasket No, there hasn't, but I didn't think I was coming from that angle. I thought I was operating from the perspective of a planner and analyst, not especially an old one. Although sometimes a bit of age helps. I was of age during Nixon's wage and price controls. And I remember vividly how that fiasco produced a consensus that wage and price controls were so non-constructive that we would never be so stupid as to do that again. And we didn't for a long time. But---they're baaack. And we think they'll work this time?
